Why wear a riding helmet

The different types of bombs

There are two types of bombs. The first is the adjustable helmet, equipped with a knob that allows you to adjust the helmet's head circumference by a margin of 4 cm.  They are generally used by beginners and for leisure riding such as trekking. The adjustable helmet is also ideal for children as it will adapt to their growth. In addition, it has excellent ventilation and is very light. However, it can move slightly on the head and is therefore not suitable for competitions. For professional use, it is better to turn to the second type of helmet: the helmet with a fixed head circumference. These are models that adjust perfectly to the rider's head circumference. They offer more comfort and stability. It is chosen by following measurements in centimetres, like a hat.

How to choose your riding helmet?

To ride safely, it is essential to choose a helmet that fits the rider's head size. The ideal is a model that can absorb shocks and has a neck protector. The helmet should also wrap well around the head and the visor should extend down to the top of the forehead without obstructing visibility. The strap should be adjusted. The rider must be able to turn his head without being obstructed. Finally, although it is a safety device, it is now possible to buy a helmet with an aesthetic design. With a velvet, leather or metallic finish, you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing your own. The important thing is to find the right compromise between comfort, safety and aesthetics.
